This is a newly created position within the EHS&S organization to provide: . Better alignment of communications resources with business needs globally . Support of the new corporate Wellness initiative . Create communications consistency across Alcoa in dealing with special EHS&S issues . Assisting in issues communications planning and execution related to EHS&S
The primary purpose of this position is improve communications across the EHS&S function across all plants and global business units by identifying, developing and working with field communicators and sharing tools and techniques. In addition, this position will create and implement protocols to deal effectively with EHSS-related special issues.
Priorities: . Assist in the development and implementation of a robust and effective communication program to support the Global Wellness Initiative . Collaborate and coordinate with EHS&S corporate and location professionals, business leaders and communicators to support development and implementation of a communications strategy that is aligned with and supportive of Corporate EHS and Sustainability . Standardize EHS&S communication materials across Alcoa to help reach EHS&S objectives and accelerate adoption of EHS&S best practices company-wide . Coordinate with Corporate Communications team to assist in handling special EHS&S issues that could impact Alcoa and/or the aluminum industry, coordinating with company-wide crisis communications team . Collaborate with external and internal communications support in building relationships to meet department objectives . Expand and guide the EHS&S organization in the use of social media, including recommending, developing and integrating into the Alcoa platform social media to shift communications from a one-way dialogue . Produce internal safety communications and building on our renowned safety record to continue the trend
Skills: . Manage a workload of competing priorities with a focus on deadlines, quality and attention to detail. . Effective verbal and written communication skills. . Experience researching and writing articles on deadline. . Experience with online communications, social media, graphic design, video production and print production. . Demonstrated understanding of business management concepts and implementation strategies. Ability to translate these concepts and strategies for audiences across a broad spectrum of experience levels. . Demonstrated ability to manage deployment of communication tools, such as video production, internal website design, online meetings, and newsletters. . Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation. . Strong competencies in project management, teaching and guiding.
Note: job grade may extend to a 17 for an experienced candidate Basic Qualifications . Bachelors Degree in Communications/Public Relations or a Bachelor degree in Communications / Public Relations . Minimum 4 years of experience in communications (internal, business, media, etc.) Preferred Qualifications . Experience communicating to a manufacturing audience. . Relevant communications experience in the areas of Wellness, Health, and EHS&S preferred. . Supervisory experience with freelance or support team members
