Our client is a global tire distributor whose products feature in the parts lists of car dealerships and mechanics throughout the world, as well as every motor vehicle enthusiast's wish list. Two decades since their inception, they now focus on ultra high performance (UHP) products and utilize professional motorsport to develop, test and improve their offerings. An opportunity has now arisen for a Staff Engineer to join their world-class team.
This is the ideal role for a high calibre engineer with a background of research and development in the tire industry to join a brand synonymous with excellence and high performance motor-vehicles. As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our client's technical services function. You will play a pivotal role in the testing, development and issues resolution of our client's products, ensuring that only exceptional merchandise is offered to the marketplace.
Tasked with testing our client's replacement products, you will support the OE Manager in the testing and evaluation of new OE products. You will supervise the Technical Service Team and assist with their training to ensure that proper inspection and reporting is achieved.
Collecting information from dealers, consumers and fleet location, you will follow-up on complaints and survey results and report on the technical findings and potential remedial actions. You will also undertake research and analysis through visits to dealers and from fleet and field testing activities, recommending modifications and quality enhancements using the results.
As part of your role, you will spend up to 30% of your time travelling to testing sites, dealership or fleet locations for testing, analysis and investigative purposes. There is also the potential to travel to both Japan and Europe.
Your other duties will include:
- Assisting the Product Planning Department in any product testing required - Coordinating meetings and communications with the Testing Department - Managing the testing program and performing fleet tests - Taking part in external activities, such as 'ride & drives', that require technical expertise
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must have:
- Research and development experience gained within the tire industry - Project management experience
- A proven track record of accomplishment in an R&D role - A BS in engineering
- A valid US passport
As a Staff Engineer, you must be diligent, proactive and possess an excellent attention to detail. You must be analytical and have strong communication and problem solving abilities.
Experience of working for a Japanese manufacturer would be beneficial to your application.
