Global Rolled Products (GRP) is a dynamic global organization that offers the widest variety of aluminum plate and sheet in the world. GRP is made up of Alcoa's rolling operations around the world and is Alcoa's most global group with manufacturing and commercial sites in North America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Asia, Australia and Russia.
This role is located outside of Pittsburgh, PA at Alcoa's Technical Center. This Technician will be responsible for assisting with the manufacturing, testing, and analyzing aluminum can products for the food and beverage industry then reporting results. The incumbent will also be responsible for building Die sets for manufacturing.
Additional Responsibilities
* Developing creative approaches and imaginative solutions that meet real needs encountered during design and development of rigid packaging products.
* Assemble, inspect, and measure tooling and parts.
* Operate manufacturing equipment/machinery and forklifts.
* Provide routine maintenance to manufacturing equipment.
Necessary Skills
* Strong ability to work with co-workers that will include Engineer's and Technician's
* Strong commitment to safety and quality.
* Ability to interact in a multi-discipline team environment
* Effective oral and written communication skills
Note:For internal candidates this position can be a JG 10 or JG 11 depending on qualifications and experience. Basic Qualifications * At least 3 years experience and training in machining methods and machine shop operation to assemble die sets, install die sets into stamping presses, and operate press to manufacture products.
* 3 - 5 years operating and maintaining toolings, performing quality control inspections on final tool manufacture.
* 3 years experience reading and executing activities from detail design prints. Consistently works to +/- 0.0001 inch. Preferred Qualifications In addition to the basic qualifications:
* * Associate's Degree in machining, tool & die making, or sheet metal forming or Journeyman papers following 4 year apprenticeship
* 5 plus years in a job shop environment with experience assembling die sets, operating and maintaining toolings.
