Assembly Technician

SUMMARY
Assembles and tests industrial labeling machines, sub-assemblies and electrical circuits and components. Disassembles used machinery in preparation for remanufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assembles and tests electro-mechanical equipment according to drawings, schematics, and written and verbal instructions.
Cuts, strips, bends and forms wires, cables and conduit. Connects wire circuits. Solders connections and crimps connectors to wire ends. Installs electrical assemblies.
Assembles new and reconditioned machined components such as gears, bearings, levers, shafts, and drive belts. Aligns and meshes gears to assemble gearboxes.
Performs operational and electrical tests using standard test equipment. Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical assemblies; diagnoses the cause of malfunctions or failures and performs corrective maintenance.
Tests and repairs printed circuit boards using standardized test apparatus and procedures.
Enters data into computerized work orders.
Disassembles used equipment for cleaning and inspection.
Provides assistance to other machine production department employees as assigned.
Requirements:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Two year degree or vocational training preferred. Minimum 2 years related experience. Experience to include: 0 - 48 VDC, 110 - 480 VAC, single and three phase. Certificate in NFPA 70E electrical safety training preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and E-mail.
ELECTRICAL SKILLS
Understand the operation of common electrical and electronic circuits, circuit components, schematics and troubleshooting techniques on circuit boards, electrical control components and wire looms.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The ability to use common hand tools, both manual and powered.
