Associate Director, New Business Development and Strategic Partnerships
• Minimum of 10 combined years in technology, business development, product management, sales/marketing and operations
• Demonstrated capabilities in identifying and selecting partners based on strategic criteria
• Experience in leading the adoption of new technologies (organizational and market) and full life cycle of product/solution management
• Seasoned and proven negotiation skills with experience managing complex initiatives across multiple functions with track record of fiscal responsibility
• In depth knowledge of the wireless and emerging mobile technology industry including marketing approaches, pricing strategies, business models and regulatory issues is a must
• Experience managing teams with and without a direct reporting relationship
• Superior verbal and communication skills
• Collaboration skills and the ability to motivate team members, peers and superiors to action
• Has a strong sense of how business operates in a holistic viewpoint and be able to bring a macro perspective to business opportunities
• Excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively, at all levels of management, throughout the organization
• Entrepreneurial orientation and abilities - An individual who can function effectively and drive desired results in a fluid, fast-moving and competitive business environment characterized by rapid change
• Has the ability to make informed decision without much guidance and possesses the skills/desire to function as a business partner to the rest of organization
• Proven execution skills - It will be important that the successful candidate can successfully execute against the roadmap strategy alongside the existing team that exists within this organization
• Bachelors in degree required (Business, Engineering, or Communictions); MBA preferredAssociate Director, New Business Development and Strategic Partnerships - Responsible for developing and managing new/innovative/disruptive and strategic business development initiatives; to enable Verizon's Consumer and Business prioritized strategic imperatives; by identifying new commercial opportunities and structuring business terms - including acquisition, investment or partnership. Identify, Manage communication/work flow/business development with both large and small strategic partners (eg. From MSFT to Start-ups) Service the broader organization by 'funneling' innovative (both incremental and disruptive) technologies/companies from Silicon Valley and abroad.
NEW MARKET DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AND EVANGELIZATION
• Identify several adjacent vertical service segments for VZW
• Evaluate key segments for market size and revenue potential and identify key focus areas for VZW New Market Development team
• Evaluate key focus areas in depth from a competitive standpoint and identify areas of risk for VZW
• Analyze and propose key financial models for VZW to generate revenue in the key focus areas; This includes a deep understanding of financial modeling, VZW internal criteria and industry standards
• Assess and recommend VZW strategies including business and distribution models for the key vertical segments identified
• Prepare and present proposed directions to senior management for buy-in
• Engage and drive with internal and external organizations on the evangelization of above strategies
PARTNERSHIP MANAGEMENT
• Engage with current or emerging strategic partners (eg. Microsoft, Facebook, Walmart, etc) in ongoing business development activities and partnership management activities including quarterly reviews, metrics tracking, joint marketing efforts and internal reviews
• Serve as the key VZW point of contact and internal voice for all activities and events related to the key strategic partners; Cultivate strong relationships with strategic partners and manage all touch points
• Assess partner products and strategic directions and weigh against VZW strategic objectives and business priorities to identify areas for collaboration
• Engage in any contract negotiations with key strategic partners as needed
INNOVATION SOURCING/PROTYPING/INCUBATION
• Establish/Cultivate strong relationships with emerging technologies firms and startups including VC funded, joint partnerships and internal innovation, product and strategy teams
• Assist in the research and identification of key verticals with significant growth potential for VZW Assist with the initial incubation of the products from selected partners including initial product management, commercialization plan (GTM) through the SF AIC (Application Innovation Center) and Vodafone R&D Lab
• Limited partner management functions such as metrics tracking and joint marketing efforts will be required on periodic basis
• Manage all transition points after 1st commercialization
AGENCY/CONTRACTOR/FTE MANAGEMENT
• Involve in career planning and people management tasks
• Drive projects and deliverables against SOW commitments and related dates of completion
• Engage outside support as needed for new areas that may require specific subject matter expertise
