Automotive Mechanic A
Completely maintain, repair, rebuild, diagnose, assemble and correct malfunctions in gasoline, gas & diesel trucks, motor cars, lift trucks, cranes, jitneys and stationary engines and their associated and related equipment and components. Determine usefulness of worn parts and recommend disposition. Rebuild ground power gas turbine type engines to meet manufacturers specifications. Determine method of rebuilding and devise and make tools and equipment to facilitate work.
Competencies
Lead and work with lower graded employees. Make functional and operational checks of rebuilt and repaired engines and equipment. Use precision measuring instruments. Perform the following typical duties rebore cylinders; repair radiators; install and fit pistons, valves, piston rings and bearings; regrind or replace crankshafts repair and/or replace transmissions, ignition systems, differentials, and clutches; rebuild and overhaul carburetors, stater motors, generators and hydraulic cylinders; adjust wheels for castor, camber and tow-in. Maintain mileage and maintenance records, Straighten and align fenders, bodies, frames, axles, etc. Perform roadside automotive repair. Perform welding, burning and brazing as necessary. Work from drawings, wiring diagrams, verbal and written instructions.
Basic Qualifications For ConsiderationDo you have experience repairing propane powered fork lifts ?
Typical Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equlivant preferred.

This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement. Resumes of current Portland, Puget Sound and Wichita Boeing employees submitted via BESS will be considered as this job is not installed in QTTP. NCRC (National Career Readiness Certificate) is preferred.
