Description
Job Summary:
The Segment Sales Specialist's primary responsibility to develop new business in the bridge, highway and power generation segments through existing and potential customer base and lead the development of customer relationships at all levels. Perform all necessary sales and marketing activities for targeted segments involving core product growth in such a manner as to facilitate project-oriented sales.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete and maintain a comprehensive SOP (Sales Operating Plan).
Establish and maintain product approvals and state QPL's with strategic power and energy accounts.
Project tracking and project control process system.
Continuously develop contractor network and relationships establishing primary supply position with each.
Develop and maintain relationships and presence with design professional to maximize specifications penetration.
Constantly "sharpening the saw" continually developing technical knowledge and professional selling skills.
Solve design and application issues / problems for customers (engineers, contractors, etc. - all customer types).
Train, influence, and assist contractors and owner employees in best practices in successful bidding and application.
Introduce and perform physical demonstrations of our product offerings to potential customers.
Assist market segment managers by providing voice of customer and competitive market information.
Maintaining and developing appropriate distribution partnership relationships.
Pricing for the defined segment.
Quality and compliant investigation and resolution.
Responsible for timely reporting, delivering sales results (top-and bottom-line) and managing territory to the expense budget.
Follow all appropriate Environmental Protection, Safety, Health and Quality (ESHQ) policies.
Notifies supervisor before undertaking work activity in which he/she is not adequately trained.
Immediately reports unsafe acts or conditions to his/her supervisor and takes immediate interim steps to protect him/her and others from serious risk.
Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of BASF's Vision and Guiding Principles. Must report all unsafe conditions and accidents immediately to appropriate managers or directors. Responsible for the safety of themselves and others.
Must understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities.
Qualifications
Candidate Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of five years of experience with the sale of specialty construction materials sales and / or experience as a contractor / applicator of concrete repair, strengthening and restoration with a proven track record of performance.
Education: Bachelor of Arts/Science preferred in business, architecture, engineering or a related field. Minimum high school graduation with commensurate industry-related work experience.
Comments: Demonstrates a robust understanding of how construction products are sold into the targeted segment through the various channels of sale. Channel of sales include but are focused on Architects, Specifiers, Distributors, Owners and Contractors.
