Are you looking to be part of a motivated, highly visible team with a medical technology industry leader? Becoming a Buyer on our Purchasing team will give you the opportunity to manage the supply base and parts procurement for a business unit and support supplier development, existing product improvements, and production sustainment. You will be responsible for kanban sizing, inventory accuracy and inventory right-sizing initiatives. You will have the opportunity to work with suppliers in a variety of commodities and interact with the production team as a liaison between the internal team and supplier.
Building strong relationships quickly will be key as you will be working closely with suppliers, engineers, quality, and production personnel. In this role you will interact with multiple cross-functional groups and must be able to meet with an array of people within the organization.
Your main performance metrics will be to manage your supply base, reduce inventory levels, reduce part shortages, and improve inventory accuracy. You will have the opportunity to participate in cost-reduction initiatives, including engineering changes and supplier negotiations.
After joining this team, you will quickly understand FDA regulations and how they pertain to purchasing controls in the medical device industry. You will have the opportunity to receive hands-on training in your role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Position may perform any or all of the following tasks as assigned. 1. Manages Kanban and MRP driven systems. 2. Initiates purchase orders with suppliers to obtain materials and services according to specifications. 3. Maintains purchase order system to ensure specifications are met. 4. Maintains inventory levels in accordance with production requirements. 5. Supports New Product launches. 6. Supports Cost Reduction Efforts. 7. Drives Supplier Improvement 8. Supports Engineering Change Orders (ECOS) 9. Directs efforts towards Customer Service, Operations and Material's objectives, goals and measurements. 10. Perform additional duties as assigned. 11. Consults with Materials/Operations Team Leader and/or Business Unit Manager if complex or difficult decisions arise and require additional input. 12. Provides daily communication to Operations team regarding material issues.
Qualifications/Work Experience
1. Undergraduate degree in business or related discipline. 2. JD Edwards experience. (An ERP erprise Resource Package) 3. Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. 4. Must be PC proficient 5. 0-2 years manufacturing purchasing and/or production planning experience preferred. 6. Basic skills - Time management, interpersonal, organizational, communication, analytical. 7. May possess the following functional skills - Kanban, MRP, JDE proficiency, Purchasing system/procedures, Supplier Management. 8. Stryker specific skills - Requires ability to follow and adhere to quality standards and product specifications.
Education and/or Special Training
