Job Summary:

Responsible for the strategic procurement, contract management, and sourcing strategy for assigned categories. Delivers savings and meets service targets for assigned categories and/or stakeholder departments. Builds, maintains and manages strong relationships within cross-functional teams and departments. Responsible for ensuring the lowest total cost supply base and sourcing competitiveness throughout the procurement process.

Job Accountabilities:

Develops and implements the procurement, contract management, and sourcing strategy within their responsible category groups. Applies independent judgment and strategic thinking in moderately complex situations to proactively problem solve and make decisions for the assigned categories.

Issues requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposal (RFP), directs the evaluation of RFIs and RFPs. Negotiates agreements and leads the implementation, coordination and enforcement of agreements for the assigned commodities. Manages risk associated with each agreement (schedule, liability, performance, indemnity, etc.)

Manage relationship requirements (Supply Chain, customer, supplier, legal, risk, environmental, safety, etc.) within the category activities. Performs, learns from and makes changes based on periodic scorecard assessments of suppliers and relationships within assigned areas.

May lead or participate on spend management teams and is accountable for results, savings and service targets for assigned categories and/or stakeholder departments.

Understand, track, and forecast the global supply base, market, technology, cost structure/drivers, and competition of the category. May provide mentorship on category for senior buyers, buyers, and associates

Responsible for supplier relationship management, including measuring and monitoring key supplier performance within assigned areas.

Actively identifies opportunities and development initiatives to align our sourcing strategies and methods with our corporate values. Seeks and develops diverse companies who can meet our business needs.

Responsible for effective communications with the internal Supply Chain and key stakeholders for the category and related activities.

Job Qualifications:

Education or experience equivalent to a four year degree from an accredited college or university

A minimum of five years technical and/or professional experience in progressively responsible purchasing, administration and/or logistics positions

Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills strong negotiating skills, as well as ability to persuade others to gain support and commitment.

Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred

Ability to work in a diverse work environment and demonstrated knowledge of Supplier Diversity and Development practices.

C.P.M., CPIM or CPSM certification is preferred

In-depth technical and practical knowledge of strategic sourcing and logistics, including market analysis.

Demonstrated proficiency using automated purchasing, materials management, transportation, and logistics planning and forecasting systems as well as spreadsheet and database software. Proficiency in PeopleSoft supply chain systems is preferred.

Proven ability to implement competitive procurement initiatives such as cost analyses, negotiation strategies and cost estimating, resulting in spend/life cycle cost savings for multiple categories.

Knowledge of legal issues applicable to purchase agreements and contracts. Ability to determine the long-term consequence of an agreement's terms and conditions.

Proven ability to develop and use specifications, RFIs, RFPs and contracts for materials, services and equipment purchases.

Effective time management skills and ability to work under time constraints. Ability to handle multiple customers, contract negotiations and oversee numerous existing contracts at the same time

Demonstrated knowledge of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) practices; ability to develop performance measures and apply SRM principles.

Proven ability to achieve results with a minimum amount of direction.

Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment
