Our client seeks a skilled Chief Mechanical Design Engineer in Northwest Indiana. The Design engineer will design, test and develop boiler, HVAC and heat transfer s person will be designing the boiler itself. This is a direct hire position on the Northwest Indiana shore with a leading global manufacturer. Local Candidates preferred. Relocation assistance is available. Responsibilities:
-> Design and develop product component parts, product subassemblies and complete assemblies for Boilers, HVAC and heat transfer equipment
-> Designing boilers
-> Work with drafting on the product detailed layout, detailed prints, parts specifications and Bill of Materials
-> Analyze and interpret test data and verify modifications necessary to meet product performance and safety requirements
-> Schedule activities relative to product or project design and development
-> Formulate product design specifications
-> Possess knowledge of Approval Agency requirements, such as, Underwriter Laboratories, American Gas Association, Canadian Gas Association or Canadian Standards Association
-> Test product and components in accordance with recognized approval agency requirements and rating codes
-> Maintain records for potentially patentable ideas
-> Interface with Lab technicians, designers/drafters, manufacturing, possible interface with customers, marketing, sales, supply chain management, executive leadership team
Requirements:
-> BS in Engineering, preferably mechanical (BSME) or equivalent experience
-> 5+ years experience in the following: Combustion, Heat Transfer, Hydronics, Project Management, Appliance Design
-> Training in Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Autocad, Pro-Engineer
-> Understand UL, AGA, CGA, CSA, ASME Boiler Codes, Pro-E OR Solid Works, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), CFD (computational fluid dynamics)
