Commodity Manager

Commodity Manager is responsible for identifying, recruiting, onboarding and engaging a talented commodity management team. Main functions include managing supplier relations, developing and executing a supplier consolidation strategy, driving cost reduction activities relating to commodity management and are responsible for ensuring a strong and capable supply base is developed to support production, innovation and new product launches.
Responsibilities
Developing & executing strategies in the following three key areas:
oSupplier management strategy to include driving improved on time delivery and partnering with the SQE team to drive decreased DPM's.
oCost reduction strategy enabling the site to achieve budgeted PPV and cost reduction goals.
oSupplier consolidation strategy to achieve the budgeted reduction, reduce exposure to poor performing suppliers and enable our Ops partners to achieve their daily and annual shipment objectives.
-Ensuring capable new supplier partners are selected and oriented, including
oScreening, evaluating and qualifying new suppliers to ensure they can/will meet Stryker's standards.
oEstablishing business terms and arrangements that protect and benefit Stryker's interests.
-Ensuring strong procurement processes are in place, and followed, to support Stryker's interests, including:
oOwning the evaluating and qualifying supplier management/procurement business processes.
oUtilizing Stryker's standard legal/contracting documents and terms, including use of non-disclosure forms, and ensuring supplier quality agreements are in place (incl. change control & product quality resolution).
-Resourcing the commodity team, including:
oOngoing development and assessment of needs and resources to ensure a successful team and outcome.
Acquiring/developing sourcing talent to ensure a strong talent pipeline, and strong succession plans for the commodity team. The lead will develop formalized annual objectives for all his/her staff which are clear, concise, measurable, and aligned with the overall goals & objectives of the business. Participate as a strategic, proactive business partner for the Ops team. As a strategic business partner he/she will be expected to be a key player when it comes to planning sessions, helping define the product roadmaps, long range business and capacity plans, and developing strategies with cross-functional implications. Finally, to be successful, the Commodity Manger must be a great communicator with his/her team, across the site, and throughout the overall organization. He/she must ensure all members of the team have the information they need to effectively do their work, and must ensure the plant's perspective is considered in division and corporate decisions by developing effective networks/communications cross-functionally across the company. This role will require ~10% travel, mainly domestic.

Qualifications/Work Experience

• Must be able to generate and explain detailed proposals, guidelines, and procedures
• Must be able to analyze and resolve non-routine issues using independent judgment
• Must be able to routinely make decisions that affect immediate operations and may have a company-wide effect
• Must be able to observe minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, a Materials process or system)

Education and/or Special Training

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement or related curriculum or related experience•
