Corporate Continuous Improvement Training Facilitator
Summary
In this key role you’ll join Hypertherm’s Corporate Improvement Team and build on our culture of improvement and operational excellence throughout the global organization. Your responsibilities will include guiding continuous improvement and business/operations excellence using your knowledge and skills in lean, structured (six sigma) problem solving, continuous improvement, and project management and leadership. You’ll build organizational improvement knowledge by developing new and improving existing training curriculum, teach classes, and mentor and coach our leaders and change agents. Primary Responsibilities include:
Training and teaching:Maintains, develops, and delivers/facilitates delivery of lean and six-sigma training curriculum for associates, project teams, and project sponsors/champions throughout the global organization. Takes advantage of experiential adult learning principles to teach lean and problem solving principles in real-time business and operational situations. Tracks performance of training delivery and students via in-class and post-training assessments of application of tools in the work environment, as well as evaluations completed by participants. Regularly reviews feedback with leadership to identify and carry out curriculum improvements.
Coaching:Partner with team leaders as project champions to effectively identify and prioritize improvement opportunities. Actively mentor and coach lean improvement and problem-solving (six-sigma green belt) teams on application of principles and tools to build independent capability within the teams.
Organization development:Identify and grow capabilities of Lean Champions on each operations team to serve as subject matter experts and reference points within their home team for training and execution in lean. Assist the operations teams in creating lean/six sigma training road maps for associates on the team.
Content creation and improvement:Benchmark training content and methods with other organizations with demonstrated track record of operational excellence. Collaborate with Corporate Improvement and Organizational Development to assimilate input from external benchmarking and internal feedback to define curriculum improvements, both in content and delivery methods, which best meet the needs of the organization. Create new content related to operational excellence, or partner with external entities, as needed to meet emerging company needs.
Kaizen facilitation:Assist in business and functional teams with kaizen selection and provide targeted training as required. Facilitate kaizen events and report outs to review and reflect on problem root cause analysis, obstacles and countermeasures, project completion, and key learning.
Certification:Collaborate with Corporate Improvement, Hypertherm’s Technical Training institute (HTTI), and Organizational Development to define appropriate certification standards for associates to demonstrate competence in application of relevant HyPerformance Practices. Work with Organizational Development to ensure records are maintained.
Education/Experience:



* BS in Engineering, Business (Operations Management), or related field. Experience with Instructional Design and Adult Learning.
* Three-plus year’s successful track record of applying lean and structured problem solving in a manufacturing setting.
* Experience facilitating kaizen/rapid improvement events.
* Experience teaching and training lean and problem solving in an industrial environment.
* Experience with coaching/mentoring individuals and improvement teams in lean and structured problem solving.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Expert level analytical, statistical and problem solving skills
* Demonstrated strong classroom training and one-on-one coaching skills
* Manufacturing experience and business acumen
* Lean – six sigma green belt certified
* Superior and highly adaptive presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills that appeal with a range of DiSC profiles.
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal and change management skills through experience
* Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Minitab
Preferred Experience:
* MS/MA in business or education or MBA
* Train the trainer/facilitator certification
* Lean – six sigma black belt or master black belt certified
* Creation of training modules for adult learning in industrial setting
* Experience with creating electronic/e-learning modules
