Job Description:

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Develop product cost models, maintain standard costs, and support Manufacturing and Marketing management. This position must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
· Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material consumption, process efficiencies, and labor.
· Maintain all Standard Costs, estimate costs related to new product / customer offerings, and record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
· Analyze data collected and recording results, and analyze audits of costs and preparing reports.
· Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on cost.
· Analyze actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing variances between standard costs to actual production costs.
· Coordinate analysis efforts with Plant Operations and Marketing functions.
· Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
· Maintain Cost Accounting System, assist in Month End close of the General Ledger, and monitor and reconcile inventories.
· Updating standards and bill of materials, raw materials cost analysis, scrap, etc.
· Other special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned.
· Perform duties effectively in the most cost-efficient manner possible.
· Recommend realistic cost savings equal to annual salary each year.
· Performs other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· An Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required; Bachelors Degree preferred.
· Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. One or more years of cost accounting experience a plus.
· Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to collaborate with a multi-departmental team.
· Excellent computer skills, including a working knowledge of current accounting systems and proficiency with Excel and MS Office. BPCS and ERP LX experience a plus. Highly proficient in Excel.
· Must have strong analytical skills.

DECISIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist in identifying opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes and controls.
· Work closely with engineering in defining and improving processes to improve accuracy of bills of materials.
· Provide support and analysis in regard to manufacturing and pricing variances to standard.
· Develop a complete understanding of how the company’s standard cost system works, and be known and viewed as the expert of cost.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
· Must be able to work overtime when situations arise and deadlines need to be met.
· Must be able to work in an office environment.
· Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
· Must be able communicate on the telephone for lengthy periods.
· Must be able to operate a computer and keyboard with accuracy and efficiency.
· Must be able to travel throughout the facility to obtain information needed to perform job functions.
