COST ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Position Overview
This position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, and margin analysis. The cost accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

Principal Accountabilities:
1. Ensure bill of material standard costs are accurate including compiling cost and time studies as required
2. Report on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factories
3. Assist Research and Development staff in determining accurate costing for new products under development
4. Report on margins by product and division
5. Report on periodic variances and their causes
6. Analyze capital budgeting requests
7. Perform cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group
8. Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
9. Interact with external auditors, as required, in completing audits.
10. Perform duties effectively in the most cost-efficient manner possible.
11. Recommend realistic cost savings equal to annual salary each year.
12. Perform all other related duties as required


Requirements:

Education and Experience
- A bachelors degree in accounting
- Minimum of four (4) years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent analysis skills
- Strong communication skills including ability to collaborate with a multi-department team..
- Excellent computer skills, including a working knowledge of current accounting systems and proficiency with Excel and MS Office. BPCS experience a plus.
- CPA helpful, not required
