CTC is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join a high quality, proactive and driven Product Development team. The Design Engineer is a creative and forward-looking member of the New Product Development team, responsible for employing sound and innovative engineering principles in the development of new products or line extensions of CTC’s current product offering. The Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of product development including conceptual development, ergonomic design, fit, function, mechanical design, evaluation, testing, release to tooling and production. Openly collaborate with and support the commercialization and launch of new products with sales, marketing and customer service departments to ensure success of new and existing product design implementation. Qualifications * BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of related design experience in commercial products (military hard goods experience highly desired) * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to identify complex problems and review related data to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions * Proven competency in SolidWorks required with a minimum of 4 years of consistent use in solids, surfacing and assembly builds with 2D drawing support * Must possess good business acumen and market perspective for developing innovative product * Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering principals with extensive experience in molding techniques, advanced materials and processes * Good working knowledge of electrical and software development with ability to support electrical engineering contractors Essential Functions: * Design new or revised products using a variety of methods including computer-assisted-design modeling (CAD) or other drafting equipment and software. * Research new materials and design concepts * Test new products to analyze feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems. * Supervise and assist in tooling build and product development through release to production. * Provide support to production in fixture and tool design necessary to assembly and testing. * Confer with engineers and other CTC staff to implement procedures, resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information as needed and required. * Complete documentation of new products including design reviews, test results, bill of materials (BOMs) and other information as deemed necessary. * Manage project schedule and timeline. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and project management software * Excellent written and verbal communication skills Firearms industry or experience desired
