What You'll Do

John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is seeking a Diesel Engine Applications Engineer to support the Construction and Forestry Division Motor Grader and Backhoe Loader product lines. In addition you will:
* Define engine performance hardware requirements with partner vehicle engineering.
* Define engine Bill of Materials including current and new physical part features/options, engine control and vehicle interface software with partner engineering.
* Negotiate and establish experimental, prototype, and production engine build schedules.
* Communicate partner vehicle requirements to JDPS organization including base engine design group, performance development group, electronic hardware and software groups, application design and appropriate engine production factories.
* Ensure that partner vehicle application approval testing is completed satisfactorily.
* Coordinate JDPS internal activities to support overall projects.
* Be responsible for adhering to established Application Delivery Process as well as participation in activities designed to identify process gaps, establish process improvement plans and ultimately execute those plans.
* Travel to partner vehicle facilities once a week and occasional travel to other locations such as engineering facilities, test facilities, and customer job sites to support the Construction and Forestry product lines.


We need someone with excellent technical communication skills who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally you will have a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. In addition we require:
* Experience in diesel engine design, engine performance, or vehicle applications.
* Strong prioritization skills including ability to manage frequent changes.
* Flexibility in dealing with changing and/or partial information.
A strong candidate will also have experience in diesel engine calibration and performance including troubleshooting, and experience in diesel engine software controls.
