Digital Pre-Press Technician Tracking Code 999758 Job Description DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares pre-press files and troubleshoots the enclosed documents to discover and correct errors before printing. Ensures pre-press files are delivered to the vendor's printer on schedule to meet the production schedule. Oversees standards of file preparation and provides Art Directors with documentation to ensure process is adhered to. Recommends changes to enhance efficiency. Creates postscript and PDF files for output to proofers for press approval. Performs calibrations and modifies basic settings for hardware or software based on printer recommendations to ensure maximum performance. Recommends hardware upgrades. Archives files to CD or transmits files to printer via WarmNet. Performs regular and preventative maintenance of the printers and ensures all supplies for the proofers are available and in useable condition. Researches hardware and software upgrades and makes recommendations to management. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required. Required Skills EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree is required. Minimum of three years experience in digital pre-press are required. SKILLS: In depth knowledge of Photoshop and experience in scanning, penning, color correcting, retouching, colorizing black and white images, and color separating is required. In depth knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Preflight software is required. General knowledge of Quark, Illustrator, and Macintosh systems is required. Excellent organizational, oral and written communications skills are also required. Knowledge of PDF workflow is required.
