We are currently seeking Electrical/Instrumentation Technicians to join the growing team at our Harrodsburg, KY location. This is a start-up operation involving the installation of a new Tissue machine. At our Harrodsburg location, employees will have the opportunity to be part of our Tissue segment and will be involved in the manufacturing of Tissue. You will have the opportunity to work with the first paper machine at our Harrodsburg location; this is a state-of-the-art design - a Voith ATMOS machine - and the first complete ATMOS machine in the world! Wausau Paper produces Bay West brand towels, tissue, soap, wipers, and dispensing systems for the away-from-home market. This market includes office buildings, schools and colleges, hotels, factories and industrial facilities, airports, high-traffic facilities, and healthcare facilities.



Position Purpose:

Our E&I Technicians specialize in the following areas: Electrical Calibration/Instrumentation, Drives and PLC/DCS/HMI support.



The Calibration Technician will provide on-site technical support for instrumentation field devices that are used to control and monitor mill processes. This person is directly accountable to the team for driving uptime and accuracy of critical field instruments across the mill. Field instruments include indicators, sensors, output devices, transmitters, pneumatic controls, pressure switches, level controls, control valves and actuators, flow meters, burner and boiler controls, and analytical instrumentation (pH, ORP, Dissolved oxygen, etc.)

The PLC Technician will provide on-site technical support for industrial software programs that are used to control mill processes, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control System (DCS) and Quality Control System (QCS), and related Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs.

The Drives Technician will provide on-site technical support for all AC Drives and associated equipment in the mill. This person is directly accountable to the team for driving a Drive equipment availability (uptime) goal of 99.7% annually.

During the initial capital installation phase, these positions will be responsible for supporting training development and delivery. Scope of training development includes operating work systems, step-by-step procedures, and equipment systems and sub-systems of the paper machine. Once developed, this position will then lead in delivering a portion of the training in a classroom and hands-on format to the new operating team.



Major Responsibilities:

? During the Capital installation phase, work with an integrated team to develop training modules for operating work systems, DCS control processes, step-by-step procedures for machine start-up and shut down, machine change-overs, etc.

? During the Capital installation phase, deliver operator training to the newly hired Operating Team. The training will be in classroom format and hands-on. Provide ?hands-on? technical support for mill wide instrumentation. The person who fills this role must have sufficient background knowledge and understanding of control theory and application, and must have immediate capabilities in troubleshooting and repair of a large portion of process critical field devices, to include: Pressure transmitters, Consistency meters, Control valves (primarily Fisher), Analytical Transmitters (PH, ORP, Dissolved Oxygen, etc.), Mass Flowmeters (primarily Micro-Motion), DC Magmeters (Honeywell), Capacitance Level Probes, Ultrasonic Level System, Pneumatic systems, Calibration procedures, Burner management systems, Hydraulic systems, AC Drives and associated equipment in the mill. This likely includes over 100 AC Drives of various type and size, and the Coordinated Drives on the paper machine proper, PLCs (primarily Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000 platform), DCS (Voith Distributed Control System), QCS (Voith Model 5000 OnQ Quality Scanner)

? Perform preventive maintenance; provide oversight and leadership for preventive maintenance efforts.

? Provide troubleshooting support when issues arise that are beyond the capabilities of technicians on crew. Perform failure analysis and work toward designing out issues.

? Manage support contracts with vendor for Remote Diagnostic Center support and for Field Service Engineer call-out support.

? Provides technical support for installation of new or upgraded equipment.

? Provides technical support to areas and project managers for installation of new or upgraded equipment.

? Provide controls-support relating to continuous process improvement. This includes configuration changes and modifications.

? Cross-train on other Specialist positions



Education & Experience:

? HS Diploma or GED required

? Five or more years? experience in a calibrations/instrumentation support or Drives support or PLC support

? Experience supporting paper making machines is required



Physical Requirements:

? Work involves moving or lifting of equipment, materials, and tools. Must be able lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

? Climbing extension ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or movement within confined areas.

? Must be willing and able to work in all buildings or out of doors in all seasons.

? Operates power tools and equipment.
