Objective:
Apply professional engineering techniques to identify, define, plan, schedule, coordinate and implement new product designs, application-specific modifications, and/or product improvements to ensure the highest level of profitability and customer satisfaction. In addition, this position will provide technical customer support – pre and post sales – for electronic/controller products and supervise the Electronics Design Team. Products include controllers, shelf managers, power entry and thermal management products.
* Strong ability to apply fundamental design engineering principles within a project engineering environment, accurately and within time requested. * Demonstrate competent knowledge of engineering parameters for several specialized disciplines including digital design – especially for embedded controllers. Understanding of power, emissions, diagnostics, and thermal control is strongly desired. Knowledge of feedback control systems, or related controller technology. * Responsible for design and/or modification of power and controller circuits, where emissions and regulatory certification and component selection are key considerations. Knowledge of EMI filtering techniques over a wide range of frequencies, and associated cost impacts. * Knowledgeable in programming. Visual C (preferred), Visual Basic, and Labview. Familiarity with Linux is preferred. * Knowledge of CAD system(s) including system capabilities and limitations. The electronic designs will be implemented on CAD platforms such as PADs. These CAD platforms will interface with the appropriate mechanical platforms. Ability to modify, manipulate, access design information is critical. * Customer interface for pre and post sales technical support. Strong communications skills, both verbally and in written form. * Ability to direct a small group of individuals on the design and test functions of these products. * Understanding of applicable specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements; NEBS, UL, and TUV. * Keep informed on current technologies and make recommendations for improvement to products and processes. * Communicate with management on schedules, backlogs, and other engineering issues which affect the ability to deliver products in a timely manner. Job Requirements :
* BS degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering (MS preferable) * 5-10 years of design experience- depending on level * Strong digital electronics and controller software experience is a must for senior positions * Related industries include process control, instrumentation, electronic diagnostics and test equipment
