Description: The HON Company - Oak Laminate facility currently has an immediate need for an Electronics Technician on first shift.
The individual filling this role will be responsible for performing a variety of troubleshooting, repair and programming functions related to production equipment. Design, build and install electronic and PLC controls for manufacturing equipment and keeps appropriate documentation using AutoCAD and an industrial PLC programming software.
Essential Functions:
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic problems on production equipment as needed.
Update and program PLC controls, electronic motor drives, burner controls and other machine controls on existing equipment as needed.
Work with internal and external vendors to standardize electrical components to reduce parts inventory and lower costs.
Spend time training other maintenance members on troubleshooting techniques for PLC's and other electrical and control problems.
Keeps electrical prints updated and copies of prints in the equipment control cabinets, maintenance files and electronic copies in master files.
Keeps updated electronic copies of all equipment programs in secure but accessible place so rapid retrieval is possible incase of an emergency.
Designs, builds, programs and installs machine controls to replace out-dated controls or for improvement projects.
Suggests and implements modern and new technologies to improve existing processes by improving quality and reducing waste.
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements: This position requires:
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Fundamental presentation skills
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision,
The use of mathematics in handbook formulas such as algebra
The ability to read and interpret complicated equipment manuals,
The ability to use hand tools and measuring devices in the proper manner,
The ability to operate a wide Variety of equipment throughout the plant,
The ability to read and understand part prints to ensure machine is producing quality parts,
The ability to use a computer for file management and programming,
The ability to use deductive reasoning in order to make decisions outside of the normal guidelines as to quality, operation and set up sequences,
The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (for a distance less than 10 feet) in changing out of parts, supplying tools for repairs, etc.,
The ability to work in a factory environment that may incur temperature fluctuations averaging around 50 degrees in the winter and 100+ degrees in the summer months and where dust, fumes and noise are commonplace,
The ability to become and remain lift truck certified, and
The ability to work safely around machinery.
Educational Requirements:
Associates of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology
Or equivalent to include 5 years of experience in the field of Machine controls using PLC devises, control circuits, RS logic software, power supply circuits, motion and drive electronics, and industrial electricity.
