General Purpose of Job:
To provide engineering leadership to business unit products and processes. The output will be products and manufacturing processes that provide a competitive advantage in a global market. This position is extremely cross functional and will manage all of the engineering resources within the value stream. Organization:
TechnicalLeadershipResponsibilities/Activities * Lead the development and use of functional engineering resources in the execution of product and processdesign and development activities * Provide leadership and coordination across an organizational group of engineering teams or area of significanttechnical complexity with financial impact at the product line level * Maintain working knowledge of the specialized skill sets required in assigned functional area(s) * Maintain functional knowledge of the application and use of tools and equipment for electrical andmechanicalfabrication and assembly * Provide direct supervision of responsibilities and activities of employees in the Technician/Design I throughStaff Engineer roles * Prepare project justifications based on cost/benefit analysis * Develop and implement plans for improving general operational attributes such as product quality(ppm), equipment downtime, scrap, product raw material costs, etc. * Rapid prototype delivery to obtain new accounts * Periodic monitoring of competitive intellectual property and understand its implication in new product development * Ensure New Product and Process developments are consistent with Technology and Product Road Map of the organization AdministrativeLeadershipResponsibilities/Activities * Proactively participate in opportunity management and prioritization planning * Lead the organization in identifying the resources and expertise needed for his/her area of responsibility * Lead the organization in the development and application of defined process-based tools and methods * Develop and maintain knowledge of business practices and company financial systems * Communicate Watlow business objectives and financial performance to assigned area(s) * Review activities and provide guidance during safety investigations, and approve corrective action wherenecessary Coaching/ Mentoring Responsibilities/Activities * Actively develop less experienced engineers through coaching and feedback * Provide counsel to less experienced managers on employee issues or administrative procedures PeopleManagementResponsibilities/Activities * Monitor employee progress on career development plans * Define requirements for training tools and programs for engineering staff * Monitor turnover and morale of employees in assigned area(s), determine root causes of key issues andrecommend actions to address key issues * Model Watlow leadership behaviors Key Relationships:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
* Advanced degree (MS/MBA) or Bachelor’s degree and 7 – 10 years of experience. Project management experience. Supervisory training and experience. Experience in one or more engineering disciplines. * Demonstrated understanding and practical application of basic Physics, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Fluids, and Thermal Dynamics. * Demonstrated understanding of 3D modeling applications * Demonstrated understanding of mechanical and electrical manufacturing automated processes. * Demonstrated understanding of ISO 9000. * Demonstrated understanding of business unit operations, products, and financial performance. * Demonstrated ability to function as a team leader in a team-based organizational environment. * Demonstrated ability to create and/or foster a leadership environment that is conducive to teamwork and demonstrates a genuine concern for the personal development of the team’s members. * Demonstrated ability to outsource work to accomplish goals including developing supplier relationships and integrating suppliers on the same project. * Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization * Demonstrated understanding and ability to use Lean/Six Sigma Problem solving and improvement processes and techniques.
