This position is responsible for the optical component fabrication functions. This is a management position overseeing functions in production of prisms, lenses, flats, diamond turned optics and sub assemblies. Including but not limited to contract negotiations, supplier visits, supplier management programs, project management, routing maintenance, ERP system data accuracy, inventory accuracy, appropriate inventory levels, costing and quoting of prototype systems. Recommendations for cycle time studies, Lean-Manufacturing practices, continuous improvement, cost savings, labor cost reduction, process time reduction, and analysis of lead-time to reduce time to market and improve on time delivery to customers
This job position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations. Therefore, all employees working in this capacity must meet citizenship status. Per the CVI Melles Griot Export Controls Policy and Procedure, the employee must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Reviews production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations. * Plans production operations, established priorities and sequences for product. * Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications. * Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. * Develops procedures and techniques to improve manufacturing efficiencies. * Responsible for the employment, training, employee motivation, counseling and discipline of employees supervised. * Provide leadership to production personnel through regular communication meeting * Develops and implements cost reduction activities to increase profitability. * Regular reporting on critical success factor performance * Responsible for signature authorities pertaining to the MRP drivers and Document Control. * Cap Ex budgeting and cost control. * Utilization of MRP and IT system to improve business operating procedures. * Performs analysis on critical performance problems and implements solutions. * Assist in decisions for new product development investments. * Perform budgeting responsibilities. * Comply with health and safety policies and procedures. * Support company values including ethical conduct and high integrity in all actions.

* Write procedures for all manufacturing related tasks * Monthly update reports, graphs * Make recommendations for continuous improvement * Comply with the Clean Room Protocol when entering a clean room environment. * Support to engineering with process development, router input and tooling design

EDUCATION/TRAINING/WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Science degree (B.S.), prefer optical or mechanical from four-year college or university; or eight years manufacturing management experience in optical fabrication and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
