Field Application Engineer
The FAE position performs many aspects of the technical side of sales, service and support. Functions include interactions within the engineering, quality and manufacturing efforts of our customers. The path to success is being able to work with the various PEI teams to specify and promote PEI’s products and services by providing un-parallel excellences to our customer.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.) What you need to do with skills and experience.
Provide application support for the Regional sales group.
This will involve advising customers and sales representatives on the correct product for their application – including product selection, technical support, and application support.
Train internal and external sales and support staff on new and existing product lines carried by PEI
Work with suppliers on technical inquiries from PEI customers. Also work with suppliers to develop/identify products that meet the needs of PEI’s customers
Custom Solution Development and Management
Design cable assemblies, custom connectors, power assemblies and other electro mechanical components needed to support custom solution opportunities with PEI’s customers.
Interface between PEI’s customers and the custom engineering group at PEI on custom development projects. Work with other groups within PEI to ensure successful completion of custom projects.
Support launches of new external product lines, new products developed by PEI, and new custom capabilities offered by PEI.
Provide training and customer support on these new offerings
Requirements:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Needed/desired for this Position) what you need to know
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.
5+ years of experience designing power or cable assemblies and/or assemblies using electrical connectors. Experience with fiber optics, RF connectors/cables, and or /back planes.
Experience working with customers and sales representatives.
Able to work with MS Office software including MS Project and the PEI computer system
Experience working with CAD software such as Pro-E or Solid Edge a plus
