The 3M Fire Protection Products Business runs and operates an ISO certified fire test facility. This test facility has large and small scale furnaces used to test products in fire scenarios. The person managing the test facility is responsible for all day-to-day operations at the fire test facility. These include: all carpentry work involved in building the wall and floor assemblies. Running and maintaining the furnaces and other associated equipment. Ordering supplies and managing inventory. Budget management, project timelines, and coordinating with engineers and outside trades on projects. This person is responsible to understand the existing fire test standards and work towards an expert level of knowledge around fire testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in customer and new employee product training and must have good interpersonal skills and able to communicate technical information well.
Person responsible should also have solid business acumen and run and operate the facility as a small business.
Qualifications
Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
High School Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Must be able to perform carpentry work to build assemblies
Must be able to wear a respirator
Must have a knowledge of construction, be a hands-on person and willing to do all aspects of construction trades
Must be able to lift 60 lbs
Must be able to type proficiently
Must be able to manage multiple projects at one time
Excellent customer and communication skills
High level of knowledge of MS Word and Excel
Must be detail oriented
Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and put together assemblies from drawings
Dependable, organized, punctual and responsible
Creative thinking required
Experience in the fire safety industry
