In-house Tech Rep I

Performs a broad range of simple to complex technical, administrative & supervisory duties within
a medium sized customer plant pertaining to daily ink room management and operation;
coordinates jobs being set up for presses; facilitates and supervises the work through customer
and SIEGWERK employees. Meets customer needs to the best of the incumbent s ability, in line
with SIEGWERK philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority. Complies with all company
policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintain a neat, clean and safe work
area; (2) maintain regular and consistent attendance; and (3) must have the ability to maintain
positive working relationships.
Duties and Responsiblities
Responsible for managing and overseeing all ink room operations.
Assists customer with ink room procedures and improvements.
Performs technical services and press-side trouble shooting.
Responsible for creating, budgeting, and the completion of projects, utilizing the resources of the
company, to including staff, scheduling, etc. Has decision-making authority with significant
financial impact to the company, which could range to over $100,000.
Supervises on-site SIEGWERK team. Monitors work flow and progress. Guides in-house team to
meeting daily goals and improving performance.
Participates in new hire selection and performance evaluations.
Trains employees in all aspects of ink room operations and press performance issues.
Works with customer to establish key performance indicators to improve press performance
through-put.
Responsible for maintaining finished ink inventory goals related to consignment or other
predetermined systems.
Responsible for insuring most cost effective overtime dollars without jeopardizing customers
performance.
Facilitates and coordinates work completion through appropriate customer team members.
Actively participates on Customer Problem Solving Team .
Promotes positive customer relations.
Works closely with Account manager and Area Technical Manager to assure proper procedures,
work flow, quality and customer relations standards are met.
Ability to manage 3-6 presses, on a 24/7 continuous operation facility.
Blends inks for jobs on press.
Sets up job standards for presses.
Maintains color files.
Color matches for new jobs.
Applies measurement tools, such as control charts, to measure on-going performance.
Handles all special projects per customer requests.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 3-4 years press-related experience and/or
equivalent combination of education and experience; basic knowledge of pre-press operations;
must have experience with basic computer operating; previous in-house technician and
supervisory experience preferred.
Competencies and Experience
Color matching ability and knowledge of inks and films required.
Excellent teamwork, communications skills, and demonstrated initiative in problem
solving/troubleshooting required.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of basic computer operating and a good working knowledge of IMS.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to
write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small
group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with
problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
