IT Quality Assurance Analyst Tracking Code 1000057 Job Description DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides a high level interface between the IS Applications Development team and functional groups. Actively participates in cross-functional team/task forces working closely with the user community applying an IS/Business perspective to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement. Validates testing using manual procedures, testing tools, and SQL, as required. Interfaces with developers and business analysts to resolve software defects. Assists in the definition and implementation of quality assurance practices and procedures. Adheres to all IT and IT Quality Assurance policies and procedures. Responsible for developing and executing formal test plans to ensure the delivery of quality software applications. Assists in the reporting of software quality metrics. Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status. Performs stress, load testing, and regression testing of applications as required. Involved in test planning, writing test cases/scripts, test case automation, and test execution. Effectively communicates plans and results to the functional business areas, IT Development Teams, and management. Assesses problems and solutions from a business perspective with a focus on what the customer really needs. Liaises with and ensures that the IT Technical Development team provides cost effective, high quality solutions to meet the defined business requirements. Documents all problems encountered and assist in their resolutions. Collects and analyzes data for software process evaluation and improvements, and integrates them into business processes to address the business needs. Addresses daily support issues with urgency and ensure that resolutions are meant to solve the root of the problem. Works closely with the Help Desk for application support, training, and problem identification. Delivers quality process training to technical staff and acts as an internal quality consultant to advice or influence business or technical partners. Participates as part of a team to implement and drive a Metrics program to measure all testing and QA Activities. Stays current with new technologies to best support MSC. Attends training, seminars, webinars, user groups, and other events as needed and approved by the IT QA Manager to as part of a development plan to maintain knowledge of current trends and technologies. Actively participates in cross-functional team/task forces working closely with the user community applying an IT/Business perspective to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement. Ensures confidentiality of sensitive information. Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required. Required Skills EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree or the equivalent years of business experience is required. Two to Five years formal system development experience is required. Two to Five years experience with Software Quality Assurance testing using manual processes or automated tools required. SKILLS:AS/400 and JD Edwards experience is preferred. Working knowledge of SQL preferred Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Project required. Experience with automated testing tool, preferably HP Quality Center Testing Products (Mercury) preferred. Ability to analyze requirements and design suitable test plans and cases required. General business experience including sales, distribution and warehouse is preferred. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and project management skills are required. Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint is required. Versatile, flexible, and willing to work within changing priorities required.
