Junior Buyer
|
A client of mine, Longview Fibre, Longview, Washington is looking to hire a Junior Buyer who will support procurement activities to ensure the smooth flow of required materials and services. This position primarily involves daily placement of orders, expediting, and error resolution and also monitors cost, schedule, and scope of assigned commodities to assure best quality and value. The Junior Buyer is an authorized agent of the Company with the authority to commit within the scope of their assigned commodities. Another primary responsibility of this position is to support activities that ensure that the stock items are current and accurate and that the inventory is maintained at the appropriate level.
In supporting all procurement activities, this person will:
- Obtain price and delivery information and seek long-term quotes as directed
- Prepare and issue purchase orders
- Control order follow-up and expediting to assure timely delivery
- Take necessary actions to maintain stock at appropriate levels according to Company procedures and goals
- Process stock change forms.
- Process material and invoice discrepancies in timely manner
- Assist with all order follow-up, expediting and discrepancy clearing as needed.
- Compile reports, maintain database records and documentation, and ensure accuracy of content to support Company procurement activity.
- Function as relief in absence of Buyers to help with daily activities.
Additionally, this individual will:
- Advise the team of supplier performance changes affecting quality, timeliness and error rate.
- Make the necessary arrangements and prepare documents for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Keep the department apprised of any actions, changes or other information that may impact commodities and seek supervisors guidance on continuing or significant issues.
- Perform other work as delegated by the supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
General: Ability to establish and maintain working relations with peers, internal partners, clients, and suppliers. Gather and apply data for error resolution. Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment. Must demonstrate a reasonable degree of individual initiative. Prior experience in procurement is desirable.
Bachelor?s degree in supply chain, business administration, engineering or other appropriate major required.
We are looking for someone with at least intern procurement experience in manufacturing ? if not permanent employee status work experience in procurement.
Business: Ability to comprehend and apply Procurement policies and procedures, basic purchasing practices, and basic office procedures. May independently determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
Technical: Proficient application skills with computer systems, have good Microsoft Office skills (particularly, Word, Excel, and Outlook) and be able to apply these to the Companys Procurement activities. Conduct moderate analysis projects.
Soft Skills: This position requires: good organizational skills, attention to detail, capability of processing information quickly and accurately, demonstration of strong oral and written communication skills, and maintenance of confidentiality of information.
