Hours for this position may fluctuate but generally will reflect the evening shift hours for the Laboratory .
•Provides day-to-day supervision of operations and moderate or high complexity test performance by all testing personnel in their laboratory area
•Must be accessible to testing personnel at all times testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established either by the laboratory director or technical supervisor.
•Monitors test analyses to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
•Reviews testing, quality control, and other testing reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance to requirements to ensure that quality standards, efficiency, and schedules are met.
•Releases test data to Quality Assurance for batch release.
•Provide technical assistance to staff, operations, and donor centers in laboratory related issues.
•Organize and prioritize workloads and assignments in conjunction donor center requirements.
•Participates in the evaluation of new tests and methodologies.
•Evaluates laboratory systems, processes, procedures and equipment as they relate to operating efficiency, effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
•Provides technical expertise to new Baxter projects or product lines requiring laboratory support and evaluation.
•Advises Operations Manager, Director of Operations, Quality Assurance Manager, and technical personnel of laboratory testing activities.
•Performs specimen processing and testing, if needed.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university in a biomedical discipline (Chemical, physical, biological, clinical lab science, or medical technology,) and at least 1 year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing.
OR
Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, and at least 2 years of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing.
Professional or technical experience in a laboratory, blood services or pharmaceutical manufacturing, including significant exposure to the regulatory requirements affecting that discipline or activity preferred.
Technical/Professional certification as applicable.
Experience in supervising or training others is highly desirable.
Previous Experience with Six Sigma, DMAIC and Lean Principles preferred.
