Position Purpose: This is a full time entry level position and job training is provided. After completion of job training, the Entry Lab Technician will be able to demonstrate skills and abilities to perform routine tasks assigned. Accurate completion of assigned tasks impacts operations through the assurance of quality products.

Duties are performed in the lab of a chemical production plant.

General Responsibilities include:
1)Complete regular responsibilities on time in a proper manner.

2) Assure accurate completion of tests to minimize retests on same sample.

3) Understand and follow lab and company policies.

4) Maintain good relationship with plant personnel contacts.

5) Must be trained and successfully completed testing on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hazardous Communications before promotion and every two years thereafter.

Job Specifications include:

Complexity of Duties: Duties are limited to routine tasks. Requires the ability to comprehend written and oral instructions.

Supervision Received: Direct supervision of Lab Supervisor and/or designated alternate.

Supervision Exercised: None

Impact on Operations: Assurance of quality products is dependent on accurate completion of assigned tasks.

Contacts: Has limited contact with plant personnel.

Environment: This position works primarily in the laboratory areas. Requires good physical, visual and mental attention. On occasion special safety equipment may be required for entry into a hazardous manufacturing area.
Required (Basic) Experience & Education: High School or equivalent education (GED)and satisfactory college level courses and lab work in general and analytical and/or organic chemistry.

No previous experience is required although appropriate hands-on experience may be used to satisfy a portion of the educational requirements.""
Required Competencies & Other Skills: Should be able to handle simple arithmetic and algebraic calculations.

Must be self-directed. You will have limited contact with plant personnel.

Should have good eye/hand coordination.

Basic computer operations.

Good communication skills - both oral and written.

Basic analytical skills.

Ability to work safely.

Ability to get along with others.

Ability to take direction from Lab Supervisor or alternate.

Self motivated.
Preferred Experience & Education: Some college -- college degree; prefer chemistry or life science.

Lab experience/quality assurance:

K.F. Moisture
Operation/Standardization
G.C. Operation with some trouble shooting knowledge.
L.C. Operation and can recognize if a problem exists.
Release in spec approved product.
Oven Moistures.
Flowable Suspensions
Emulsions.
Dilutions (i.e. as in Amine analysis)
Accurate foaming reading
Operation of basic laboratory equipment
Granular screen analysis
Preferred Competencies & Other Skills: Advanced computer skills (M/S office)
