Performs a variety of technical functions related to the calibration, alignment, fabrication, assembly and modification of laser assemblies and optics in accordance with established practices, procedures and product/process documentation. Performs operational tests on systems to ensure conformance with product specifications. Testing of products may involve use of complex and/or specialized test set-ups and equipment. Can read and understand blueprints, test procedures and test equipment manuals. Applies knowledge to the analysis of test processes and unit failures. Can determine and report on root cause of unit failures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Assemble and align laser and/or subassemblies • Test station and equipment set-up • Unit adjustment, alignment and calibration. • Simple troubleshooting and repair of sub-assembly failures. • Opto-mechanical assembly according to work instructions. • Inspection of optical sub-assemblies • Complies with health and safety policies and procedures. • Supports company values including ethical conduct and high integrity in all actions. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: None CROSS TRAINED IN THESE DUTIES (Back up required by ISO Certification): • Laser Technician III SUPERVISORY/LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES: None EQUIPMENT UTILIZED: The equipment described here must be used by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/TRAINING/WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE: • One year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY: • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: • Word, Excel, work center specific software • Laser specific terminology and physics terms • Knowledge and familiarity of optics and optical components. • Knowledge and familiarity with electronic components and their functions. • Good troubleshooting skills. • Skilled electro-optical test set ups and be able to characterize a laser. • Good mechanical aptitude. • Proficient with Microsoft software. • Solid understanding of fundamental laser principles. • Proficient in documentation of procedures, data, and records. • Good written and verbal communications skills.
