Job Description
Baxter BioScience has an unprecedented amount of product launches planned in the near term. Many of these launches are major launches both in financial terms as well as complexity. The launch manager will play a key role in driving launch excellence as a dedicated project manager. Established tools will be used to institute disciplined planning and tracking to ensure preparedness at every stage of the launch cycle. This role will work closely with R&D project management and commercial teams bringing operations into development & launch planning earlier, and by also ensuring there is ownership and expertise as countries launch products.
For launches prioritized by the franchise, the position will directly manage the operations work stream for initial launch (top 10 countries), and lead launch project management as a product is rolled out in additional countries. The individual in this role will employ a standardized launch process (aligned with Launch Excellence and Project Management), participate on product core teams/LSTs, manage launch metrics, and develop in-depth knowledge of launch strategy and best practices to apply to country roll-outs.
Key Tasks are as follows:
Participate in development of Integrated Project Plans for launch
Lead operations/supply chain tasks during the ""Initial Launch Phase"" (Top 10 countries PHIII to Country Launch)
Provide comprehensive Launch Project Management for all ""Country Roll Outs"" identified by Franchise of the product being launched. This includes
Train and engage local team on launch process
Drive utilization of ""Commercial Product Launch Platform (CPLP)"" in country launch teams
Ensuring execution of IPP is tracked for all launch deliverables
Ensure alignment with Product Strategies to pressure test plans
Participate inexisting team structures (LST/Core Teams, Commercialization Teams) regularly, to engage in Launch Planning at the appropriate time, and to ensure operational alignment with strategy and life cycle management.
Prepare Operations/Global SC at appropriate times on ""ramp up"" activities
Lead medium scale launches as part of life cycle management process as applicable
Provide feedback to LST on success of product during launch
Develop & Communicate launch metrics for assigned franchise (Qtrly)
Update of Global Launch Pipeline quarterly through data collection/ interviews
Run Launch Management dashboards/metrics quarterly
Review LM metrics with internal stakeholders (Global Logistics, GPM, GSC)
Update Franchise teams quarterly on metrics/performance
Drive Launch Best Practices
Train and educate cross functional teams on a standard launch method and ensure uniform implementation.
Support initiatives to improve launch metrics for assigned franchise
Enable best practice sharing and consistent use of commonly defined methods, processes, tools, and templates
Job Requirements
•Bachelor's degree with a preference for a degree or certification in project management •6 years experience in a Product Management/Operations/Supply Chain position within the pharmaceutical industry •Proven project management skills •Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to effectively and strategically communicate information and ideas to diverse audiences •Solid understanding for Regulatory Affairs procedures and processes •Interest and ability to understand commercial Strategies and Marketing Plans •Understanding of commercial launch preparation process in order to manage marketing milestones •Manage multiple tasks and priorities; adapt to new projects rapidly and to multiple projects effectively •Ability to translate both product strategy and launch best practices into diverse local geographies around the globe •Strong leadership skills that can handle and lead through tough ""crisis situations"" and tight schedules •Be a team player. Employ good listening skills; build mutual trust, encourage respect/cooperation among team members, and inspire loyalty •Demonstrated ability to work independently •Analytical mind set able to work with data, and with multiple inputs both qualitative and quantitative make sound judgments and draw conclusions •Understanding of cross functional dependencies, and ability to manage projects that require collaboration across functional areas including Customer Operations, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Finance, Operations, Project Management, etc. •Product launch experience preferred •High level of expertise desired in Demand Planning and data management
