Machinist - RW - Morenci, AZ-1200032

Highly skilled workers who perform maintenance crafts work such as plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, painting, welding, machining, boilermaking, or other specialized area.  Will perform maintenance activities independently, with minimal supervision. 

Specifically, a Machinist performs duties related to the set up and operation of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machines.  Lays out work from drawings, sketches, and written specifications. 

• Perform routine maintenance activities
• Develop solutions for various maintenance situations
• Complete Work Orders and other maintenance documentation
• Train and mentor maintenance employees
• Other tasks as assigned

• Two (2) years experience in the crafts of welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction
• Proficiency in welding/cutting
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Proficient experience using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• 3-5 years' experience as an industrial Manual Machinist.
• Proficient use of lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, drill presses, and partially automated planers.
• Experience as a Millwright with Manual Machining.

Criteria/Conditions

• Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toed boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment.  
• Employee will be required to work in environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms.  
• Occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 pounds during the course of the work day.  
• Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation.
