Overview :
The Facility Maintenance and Vertical Technician is an integral part of Macy's ability to maintain the building environment through BAS systems. Our engineers handle problems, projects and other issues as directed by the Chief and District Facilities Manager as well as maintain and repair vertical transportation systems. The Facility Maintenance and Vertical Technician must be flexible and respond to the growing and changing needs of the company.
Key Accountabilities :
Responsible for installation, maintenance, operation and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems including vertical transportation equipment and systems.
Ensure proper operation of building systems in compliance with required regulations and codes.
Tests, maintain and evaluate equipment by using instrumentation.
Test and calibrate electronic HVAC and building environmental controls ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
Performs as required skilled maintenance activities to include but not limited to construction, welding, soldering, electrical, mechanical and plumbing. Inspects and repairs HVAC equipment: pumps, fans, valves, motors to ensure proper operation.
Performs routine scheduled preventive maintenance duties to include filter changes, lubricating equipment, equipment readings, etc. Performs fire/life/safety inspections and maintains necessary records.
Perform all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with established work standards
Perform maintenance duties in one or more facilities as needed by the Chief and / or DFM
Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards of business ethics and conduct.
Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment and willing to perform other duties as assigned.
Handle after hours emergencies of vertical equipment when on-call.
Actively participates in safety programs and disaster preparedness to ensure a safe, clean and organized environment for customers, vendors and employees.
Part of on-call rotation, must be available 24/7 when on call
Must be able to respond when needed for emergencies in facilities, as well as available to perform occasional work on evenings and weekends
Skills Summary :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, repair of vertical equipment in a retail environment
Valid Elevator license required
Must be familiar with the PC and Microsoft Windows applications
Must be a team player
Current Universal CFC certificate
Strong analytic skills
