Job Description
Candidate will be responsible for Global strategy, sourcing and project management activities for indirect goods and services across Research and Development, with specific support for the Clinical categories. This position will utilize Baxter's spend data to identify initial opportunities, but will be required to develop and maintain a network of internal stakeholders to ensure all projects are supported. Responsibilities include:
1. Develop a comprehensive global category strategy for clinical categories based on customer and industry analyses and develop contracts with new suppliers or renegotiate existing contracts in support of the strategy.
2. Lead the contract negotiation process and achieve best value by: (1) leading the appropriate sourcing process for new contracts, (2) executing the contract negotiation strategy and (3) leading the contract implementation and the identification of opportunities for expanded supplier relationships.
3. Work with the global clinical leaders to develop and maintain annual supplier management plans, including forecasted spend, savings expectations and performance objectives.
4. Further develop close relationships with both suppliers and appropriate client groups.
5. Optimize supplier relationships while maximizing value and ensuring uninterrupted services.
6. Provide input to management and develop the supplier management programs for assigned categories. Provide input on all aspects of the supplier cost reduction and procurement development programs.
7. Collect feedback from internal customers and suppliers on performance using metrics. Review supplier performance reports are consistent with agreed requirements to insure consistency with quality, service and delivery objectives across assigned categories.
8. Provide industry analysis to identify size of industry, leading players, and specific industry characteristics for new and existing opportunities.
9. Conduct client requirement analysis to understand clients' present and future needs. Work with stakeholders to determine and document study specific outsourcing requirements. Assist with development and implementation of new and existing outsourcing processes and tools.
10 Support stakeholder study teams with RFP process, bid defense meetings, supplier selection and contract negotiation as needed.
11. Support oversight of major suppliers, including Clinical Research Organizations (CROs), Central Labs and Contract Labs.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
1. Excellent technical purchasing skills, including internal and external negotiation, contracting and the ability to drive savings for the organization.
2. Strong change management and influencing skills in order to gain buy-in, support and compliance across the organization
3. Excellent organizational, project management, communication (written and verbal) skills.
4. Strong Analytical Skills (effectively supports decisions on factual data and analysis).
5. Able to interface with multiple levels of management, including senior management at both procurement and business unit levels.
6. High level of client focus and an ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Educational Experience
1. BS, MS or PharmD required (MBA preferred) with experience in clinical research and support operations. Minimum 5 years experience in clinical operations, drug development or other health care related field in the pharmaceutical, biotech or device industry.
2. CPSM, CPM or equivalent certification desirable.
3. Experience in evaluating, managing and selection of Clinical service suppliers
4. Experience in working with Senior Management level and Business development personnel across Clinical functions.
5. Global experience in clinical trials to include FDA and EMEA requirements.
