Reporting to the Operations Manager, theManufacturing & Process Engineerposition will have the following responsibilities: · Perform methods, process engineering, and time studies · Improve the performance and reliability of existing processes and equipment by applying standard engineering techniques and criteria to problem situations · Provide engineering support and troubleshooting assistance to maintenance and manufacturing, for the continued operation of plant and equipment. · Write bid specifications for equipment procurement. Obtain and evaluate quotes. · Investigate safety-related problems and recommend changes when necessary · Assist with the implementation of a proactive continuous improvement program for existing manufacturing equipment; introduce more efficient production methods · Develop new concepts in material processing, handling, and productivity for cost reduction purposes · Follow projects through experimentation, testing, pilot operation, and final standardization · Conduct time and motion studies and analyze layouts to promote efficient and economical utilization of personnel and facilities · Observe and analyze personnel and work procedures to determine time and motion requirements of job duties · Analyze work study data and equipment specifications to establish time and production standards · Apply principles of industrial engineering to evaluate work method proposals and to develop recommendations to management affecting work methods and budget decisions · Create and maintain all documentation associated with the manufacturing process · Review, understand, and follow the departmental procedures that are associated with the performance of this job; perform "Job Hazard Analysis"
Requirements: · BS degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering is required · 3 to 5 years Engineering experience in the steel or wire industry is required · Must have basic computer skills, including spreadsheet, database, and various engineering analysis software · Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious · Must have the ability to organize and manage work assignments, communicate ideas clearly, and troubleshoot equipment and processes
