Manufacturing Engineering Leader - Cost Reduction Projects Summary: In this key role, you’ll lead cost reduction projects across Hypertherm’s Torch and Consumable product teams. You’ll be responsible for planning, development, selection and implementation of cost savings and best practices that will lead to the achievement of $2MM of documented hard costs savings by the end of 2013. Cost saving may be achieved through process and design improvements, tooling, material selection or other options. You’ll chair the Breakthrough Costs Savings Steering Team consisting of the Business Team and Manufacturing Leaders and the Engineering Steering Team to facilitate DFM/DFA projects and consumable manufacturing standardization. You’ll also work closely with our Continuous Improvement Team to apply business improvement methodologies and measurement systems including: structured problem solving, Lean, and Six Sigma. You will also be responsible for managing and growing the CNC programming organization which is charged with developing and implementing best in class machining and quality management program development for new products and managing the machine tool acquisition process. The staff currently includes 6 engineers and technicians. You will be responsible for hiring additional engineers and technicians to expand the team’s capability over the next 18 months. Responsibilities: * Lead design and manufacturing cost saving breakthrough teams * Develop and implement a capital acquisition roadmap with machining operations leaders to balance cell productivity gains with shop standardization needs * ROI project analysis * Test andvalidate product and costsaving improvements * Implement manufacturing best practices across machining cells * Work with new product design engineering to leverage product testing plans and incorporate cost savings improvements on new products Qualifications: * BS Engineering * 10+ years of manufacturing and project management experience with machined products. * Proven success in implementing DFM & DFA cost savings * Strong knowledge in lean & six-sigma methodology. Black belt certification preferred. * Strong leadership skills * Experience working in a matrix environment
