Job Description Summary: We are looking for a talented mechanical designer for our Research and Development group contributing to new product design from concept to production. This person will work with mechanical/electrical/product engineers to design/document mechanical components and rugged enclosures for state-of-the-art next generation military and industrial grade vision systems. Thinking outside the box, generating new ideas, and being open to feedback from people on the team is required.
Daily responsibilities will include designing of parts and assemblies, generating CAD models and drawings, modifying existing designs and drawings, documenting engineering concepts, generating bills of materials, and solving manufacturing and procurement problems. The candidate will have the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and push hard to meet deadlines. The candidate must be able to take on a role of a documentation specialist and have the ability to follow a strict engineering change notice process to make sure the drawings/designs meet company, industry, and customer standards.
Travel Required: less than 10% Basic Qualifications: Minimum of five to ten years mechanical design experience in a high tech environment.
.Must have experience with design of machined parts, assemblies, and mechanical tolerance analysis.
. Must have experience with at least one of the following: design of electronic enclosures, products for military applications, mechanical design of vision systems, or consumer electronics.
. Must be a 3D modeling expert. Certified SolidWorks Professional or equivalent certification with another 3D software package is a big plus. Must be very comfortable working with complex parts, large assemblies, and applying design intent for CAD modeling. We are looking for a person who takes pride in their work and is willing to go the extra mile to create CAD models/drawings with efficiency, precision, and accuracy.
. SolidWorks experience is a big plus but we are willing to train the right candidate provided they have expert knowledge of another 3D CAD tool such as Pro/E, Inventor etc. and are willing to learn.
. Must have a solid working knowledge of 2D AutoCad. Recent AutoCad experience, 2009 or later, is a plus.
. Must be proficient with creating piece part and assembly drawings that would be compliant with ASME Y14.5 standard.
. Experience using product data management engineering change tools such as Agile or PDMWorks for engineering change notices and CAD database is a plus.
. Knowledge of machining process and GD&T is a plus.
. Proficiency with Excel and Word is desired.
