We are currently seeking Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to join the growing team at our Harrodsburg, KY location. This is a start-up operation involving the installation of a new Tissue machine. At our Harrodsburg location, employees will have the opportunity to be part of our Tissue segment and will be involved in the manufacturing of Tissue. You will have the opportunity to work with the first paper machine at our Harrodsburg location; this is a state-of-the-art design - a Voith ATMOS machine - and the first complete ATMOS machine in the world! Wausau Paper produces Bay West brand towels, tissue, soap, wipers, and dispensing systems for the away-from-home market. This market includes office buildings, schools and colleges, hotels, factories and industrial facilities, airports, high-traffic facilities, and healthcare facilities.



Position Purpose:

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing and practicing mechanical skills to support the Harrodsburg paper manufacturing operation. The position provides direct support to achieve operating objectives for the facility.

During the initial Capital installation phase, the position will be responsible for training development and delivery. Scope of training development includes operating work systems, step-by-step procedures, and equipment systems and sub-systems of the paper machine to include DCS control systems. Once developed, this position will then lead in delivering the training in a classroom and hands-on format to the new operating team.



Responsibilities:

? During the Capital installation phase, develop training modules for operating/maintenance work systems, step-by-step procedures for machine start-up and shut down, machine change overs, etc.

? During the Capital installation phase, deliver operator training to the newly hired Operating/Maintaining Team. The training will be in classroom format and hands-on.

? Demonstrates safe work and housekeeping practices. Recognize job hazards and take steps to mitigate those hazards.

? Plans and lays out, from work orders, blueprints, sketches or oral instructions, the installation or repair of machinery and equipment, water, stock, chemical, air, high and low pressure steam lines and valves, and automatic air and hydraulically operated equipment.

? Performs installation, maintenance and repair work on mill equipment which involves rebuilding, setting, leveling, aligning, dismantling and reassembling. Proficient in practicing precision maintenance techniques to include laser alignment, laser sheave alignment, use of basic vibration analysis tools, spot radiometers, precision measurement tools and others as required.

? Performs basic rigging as required for maintenance operations.

? Performances basic oxy-gas cutting and non-code arc welding.

? Interprets lubrication charts, tags, documentation, performs initial and re-lubrication for power motion equipment as to specification.

? Operates mobile equipment including fork truck, scissor lift and articulating-head lift as required for maintenance operations.

? Performs troubleshooting activities.

? Documents work completion with comments on operating equipment condition and additional work required both manually on the computerized maintenance management system. Scopes maintenance work as requested for required times, materials and equipment and provides feedback to mechanical maintenance leader and/or planner. Performs designated area condition monitoring rounds, corrects immediate issues and turns in completed round sheets to planner to build equipment history for precision maintenance effort.

? Perform all other duties as required to maintain a reliable plant operation.



Nature & Scope:

Within the Harrodsburg operations: Maintains daily contact with the Area Mechanical Maintenance Leader, Area Mechanical Maintenance Planner other maintenance technicians and operators.



Education & Experience:

? High School Diploma or GED required

? Five or more years of mechanical maintenance (multi-craft) experience in a heavy industrial environment. Demonstrated experience with process mechanical equipment

? Experience providing paper making machine support

? Preferred: successful completion of a state certified mechanical apprenticeship program or US Department of Labor Journeyman qualification program

? Basic computer user familiarity



Physical Requirements:

? Work involves moving or lifting of equipment, materials, and tools. Must be able lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

? Climbing extension ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or movement within confined areas.

? Must be willing and able to work in all buildings or out of doors in all seasons.

? Operates power tools and equipment.
