Metallurgical Technician Category: Manufacturing Type: Contractor Description: Assist engineers within large development group and perform a variety of tasks associated with structural alloy characterization or process development. Candidate must be able to work in a metallurgical laboratory and handle the chemical reagents required to prepare metallurgical samples for micro structural examination, document microstructure as directed by using a metallograph, and be able to create drawings showing extraction locations for samples and mechanical property specimens. Candidate will also assist engineers coordinate specimen machining and test and create figures and data tables for inclusion in engineering reports. The technician will be committed to EHS compliance and will have the appropriate knowledge, practical capability and use ACE tools to achieve program goals. Requirements: Three to five years experience in the area of metallurgical sample preparation and documentation. Experience operating basic metal cutting equipment is desired. Software skills that include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Unigraphics are highly desirable. Occasional overtime and travel required.
