Metrology Center Manager - TAC
The Metrology Center Manager represents solid commitment on behalf of the Fiat and Chrysler's efforts to achieve top, world-class quality. This unprecedented commitment of facility, measurement tools and human infrastructure will allow precise measurement of all the incoming parts, and effective root-cause analysis of dimensional issues. It will allow better dimensional control and capability at launch and continuous improvement throughout the vehicle build.
The Metrology Center Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Metrology related activities. Lead root cause analysis of all dimensional issues, leverage various inspection equipment (Meisterbocks, QAFs, Laser Scanners). Work with production and cross-functional teams in developing, evaluating and implementing corrective actions (example, simulating a shim move and evaluating its impact using Meisterbock). Lead dimensional certification for all ""buy"" parts for new launches following FGA's part qualification process. Assist in stamping and supplier engineering activities with part buyoff and prioritization matrices for part improvements. Lead and Coach Interior /Exterior team through use of QAF fixtures and supplier reviews to ensure zero build issues and timely supplier support/feedback and commitments are achieved. Lead parts and system validation process for all Body geometry. Proactively lead variation reduction efforts for the Body Shop (Goal of achieving Cp/Cpk > 1.33 for all critical features by V1 and sustaining those levels through product life cycle). Publish daily, weekly, monthly reports (Carpet report, Cp/Cpk trend charts). Champion the executive review on dimensional performance indicators, issue presentation, and drive corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required
• Familiar with the vehicle product development process, the supplier quality management, the manufacturing process, and the pilot process ina production environment
Preferred Qualifications: • Master's degree preferred; degree focus in Engineering, or other related discipline
• Minimum of8 years combined experience in the following areas:
• Familiarity with appropriate metrology equipment for root cause diagnostics (Scanning, CMM, Leica, Perceptron, Meisterbock, Component gages)
• Gage and inspection knowledge
• Experience solving dimensional issues, wind noise, water leak, squeak and rattle body interior and exterior related issues
• Proficient in the use of various data analysis techniques
• Solid understanding of the capabilities and use of various Metrology Systems and expectations of stamping and body shop dimensional performance
