Job Summary
The Network Planning Supervisor develops volume, flow and network design in support of Enterprise Network Planning activity.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Extract and validate volume and schedule information from various sources.
Create planning volume models for NAAF, UPS Freight, Small Package and other products.
Use various corporate planning and modeling tools to develop network designs and conduct network analysis.
Work with Marketing groups to develop forecasts for future planning periods for all freight products.
Work with Business Unit Planning groups to resolve issues regarding capacity and other network concerns for freight products; Review network plans for suitability with freight products.
Maintain volume history for freight planning; Maintain and utilize various data tables regarding location names, SLIC translation and IATA conversions.
General Requirements and Competencies
Basic understanding of UPS transportation networks, particularly UPS airline networks.
Working knowledge of air freight (Integrator and commercial markets).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
High proficiency in productivity suites, with particular emphasis on the proper use of spreadsheets and databases (strong with spreadsheets and database); advanced database skills is a plus.
Organization, project management and presentation skills.
Knowledge and ability to create shipment flow systems and develop shipment volume models.
Ability to assess, review and verify costs of various network alternative components.
Ability to work with large amounts of raw data and produce workable files that will be used in the modeling process.
Ability to perform alternative analysis and make solution recommendations.
Communication
Team player willing and capable to work with a wide range of diverse stakeholders.
Communicate plans and information in a concise and effective manner, in both verbal and written form.
Coordinate with operations to implement transportation network plans.
Maintain consistent and thorough communications with manager and other stakeholders.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field; Masters Degree is a plus
Years of Job Related Experience – 2 + years in freight planning for Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain industries.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Authorized to Work in the U.S.
