Description
The Savannah, GA BASF Catalysts site is a Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts and additives manufacturing facility.
Provide engineering, technical, and managerial support and leadership to the Savannah operations. Contribute to achieving the operations team's objectives by participating in, coordinating, and leading production, maintenance, technology/capital improvements, health, safety, ecology, quality assurance, and logistics.
Duties Include But Not Limited to:
* Provide production and process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support to the operations organization. * Identify improvement opportunities, develop a plan to achieve these in a cost effective and timely manner, sell the plan to management, deliver on agreed upon commitments. * Develop equipment and process standards, operating procedures, diagrams, training materials, and job aids as required to properly document, teach, and manage site operations. * Conduct managed experiments using DOE principals, run plans, and change management tools to identify and implement improvement opportunities addressing quality, costs, throughput, and operating reliability. * Organize, lead, and participate in improvement initiatives, projects, and process optimization teams to deliver specific, focused, time bound improvement objectives. * Monitor operations on a daily/weekly basis, reviewing KPI's, operating logs, Distributed Control System (DCS) trends, quality results, and other sources of data to ensure reliable, consistent, and cost effective operations. Intervene where appropriate to identify and resolve operating issues. * Design and implementation of new processes and/or equipment upgrades. Manage capital project assignments as necessary to support plant improvements. * Satisfactorily perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
* BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degree would be an asset. * At least 6 years of relevant, hands-on manufacturing experience. * Experience with production, process, or mechanical troubleshooting and optimization activities at a manufacturing facility. * Working knowledge and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar data driven process improvement methodologies with the ability to facilitate and lead project teams to successful implementation. * Working knowledge of reliability improvement techniques such as predictive and preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, risk based inspections, and total productive maintenance. * Proven track record of working in a team environment. * Must possess a strong technical/problem solving aptitude and be data driven. * Able to solve complex problems by identifying and enrolling appropriate resources. * Background in inorganic chemistry, material science, ceramics, ion exchange, calcination or prior catalyst manufacturing experience is a plus. * Experience with relevant mechanical process equipment such as material handling systems, belt filtration, calcination, and batch crystallization is desired. * Must show strong initiative, be self motivated, work with minimal supervision. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Knowledge of DCS and advanced process control systems needed. * Experience working in either chemical or mining industry highly desired.
