Operations Specialist - Operations/Manufacturing

INVISTA is seeking an experienced operations professional to join our operations team providing site support including safety studies, projects, coordinating and monitoring communication between shifts, teams, and operating units.

The INVISTA La Porte site is a growing, world class Intermediates manufacturing facility producing chemicals and polymers for end uses including but not limited to Spandex Fibers, Polyurethane, Pharmaceuticals, and a wide variety of engineering plastics.

Located on the Houston Ship Channel, about 25 minutes from downtown Houston and near the Johnson Space Center, Galveston, and many other Gulf Coast locations of interest. Responsibilities:

• Provide operations input for safety studies & environmental projects and input to keeping unit Ops current. Lead Investigations as required and assure Action Items address true root causes. 
• Identify & direct resolution of unit operating problems. Monitor key equipment and operating conditions. 
• Provide input for setting project priorities; provide key input to engineer in the design phase; review approval packages; coordinate implementation for start-ups. 
• Steward maintenance of continuity and communication between the shifts, and provide guidance. 
• Act as key resource in maintaining unit knowledge.
• Oversee monitoring of the chemical treatments and performance of the cooling water and chilled water systems 
• Work closely with all Site personnel to assure accuracy of EHS evaluations and workability of solutions. 
• Monitor operator training effectiveness to assure product quality, process efficiency, & asset reliability, and to promote continuous improvement. 
• Assure efficient operation of the unit and reliability of assets.
  

Experience Required: 

• 10+ years of chemical operator, maintenance, mechanic, or related mechanical operator experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.

Experience Preferred: 

• 2-year associate degree in Process Technology or equivalent certification 
• Experience operating various types of Chemical Plant Process equipment such as but not limited to: reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, cooling towers, DCS computer systems, utilities, waste water systems
