Position Purpose
Note:There are a total of 2 openings for Engineering Project Managers. The job code has three levels (01-270-1, 01-270-2, and 01-270-3). The job description listed below details the level one position. Applicants' background will be evaluated to determine which level they will be placed in. Specific project assignments, roles, and responsibilities, will be based on level. Position Purpose: The Project Manager is accountable for the planning, directing, and execution of local and/or global projects. These include projects for external customers as well as internally focussed projects (ie. cost reduction or process improvement projects). The Project Manager is responsible to direct the project team to achieve project deliverables including contractual and business objectives while ensuring customer satisfaction and QDRC. Duties:
Essential Functions
Tactical Responsibilities * Coordinate/lead multiple projects of various complexity * Acts as a leader for main project management reviews * Drives risk management * Drives schedule performance * Accountable for PLC process compliance through 1099 * Plans, reviews and improves project cost * Drives product cost (Collaborate to Cost) process * Project resource management * Works across business and departments outside of engineering to break down barriers that may prevent project success Strategic Responsibilities * Coordinates with Customer Account Manager to act as the primary point of customer contact for the project * Presents and represents project status to customer and Woodward managers * Participate in profit planning processes * Accountable for scope change management: Responsible to orchestrate with the accountable customer account manager and the team to be responsive to customer scope change * Support continuous improvement in the product development process
Other Functions
* Assure customer development and production product forecasting and Sales Order demand is maintained * Leverage all engineering groups to minimize total investment * Participate, as appropriate, in BOA process evaluating new opportunities * Collaborate with Sourcing to assure high quality, competitively priced supplier designed components
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
* Knowledge and experience with project management tools * Understanding of the product life cycle * Demonstrates leadership skills including the building of effective teams, an ability to manage conflict, the effective setting of priorities in the team and an ability to clearly define roles, responsibilities and objectives * Moderate and lead project and drive technical decisions * Ability to prepare technical and strategic issues for management decisions * Effective planning thought processes * Demonstrated communication and presentation skills to customers and Woodward management * Good business sense * Good understanding of financial analysis tools * Demonstrate ability to identify and mitigate project risks * Basic knowledge and understanding of the Material Requirements Planning (MRPII) process * Ability to influence others and work across organizational boundaries to get things done while considering their value and motivation * Demonstrates a commitment to Quality, specifically 6 Sigma, BTO, Lean and continuous improvement * Focused on customer needs, builds and maintains trust in relationship Qualifications:
Education/Formal Training
* Bachelors of Science in Engineering or other Bachelors Degree in a closely related technical field required sics * Knowledge of Six Sigma basics

2 years experience in Development Engineering Environment or Project Coordination
