We are currently seeking Paper Mill Shift Leaders to join the growing team at our Harrodsburg, KY location. This is a start-up operation involving the installation of a new Tissue machine. At our Harrodsburg location, employees will have the opportunity to be part of our Tissue segment and will be involved in the manufacturing of Tissue. You will have the opportunity to work with the first paper machine at our Harrodsburg location; this is a state-of-the-art design - a Voith ATMOS machine - and the first complete ATMOS machine in the world! Wausau Paper produces Bay West brand towels, tissue, soap, wipers, and dispensing systems for the away-from-home market. This market includes office buildings, schools and colleges, hotels, factories and industrial facilities, airports, high-traffic facilities, and healthcare facilities.



Position Purpose:

The Paper Mill Shift leader is responsible for safety, regulatory compliance, housekeeping, quality, productivity, uptime, and cost performance for the Paper Mill during his/her assigned shift.

Organizational Relationships:

The Paper Mill Shift Leader will report to the Paper Machine Manager.

The position directly supervises the Integrated Shift team composed of nine (9) Operating techniciansand two (2) Maintenance technicians

Dimensions:

The position has operational accountability for one of the four Integrated Shift Teams for the paper mill responsible to ensure that all safety, regulatory compliance, housekeeping, quality, productivity, uptime, and cost standards are achieved and maintained.



Total number of employees supervised:

9 Operating technicians

2 Maintenance technicians



Responsibilities:

? During the Capital Project installation phase the position will lead a technician team assigned to specific topics for the development and delivery of equipment/process specific training.

? During the Capital Project phase the position will assist in the development/delivery of training and the development of work systems.

? Demonstrate commitment to safety by behavior and decisions. Ensure safe conditions for Integrated Shift Team. Correct unsafe actions/behaviors. Ensure adherence to safety policies by all shift personnel. Maintain records of shift team safety training and ensure all required training is current.

? Demonstrate commitment to organizational design principles and Paper Mill Organizational vision through action and behavior.

? Take responsible and proactive action to remove/eliminate barriers to team performance in the achievement of safety, regulatory compliance, housekeeping, quality, productivity, uptime, and cost standards.

? Ensure that technician progression training system is administered fairly and that all standards are met.

? Monitor and track team performance and take action to coach and/or correct Team behavior

? Responsible to ensure that skills development plans exist for all Team members and to facilitate progress against these plans.

? Clear communications are made to the operate/maintain team on performance standards and expectations.

? Responsible to ensure resources required to address emergency and/or out of standard conditions on shift are contacted and mobilized to address the need.

? Make required communications on shift performance to the relieving shift and to machine manager, maintenance manager, and director of manufacturing to report out of standard conditions.



Nature and Scope:

Within the Harrodsburg operations:

Frequent contact with safety department, converting, maintenance, HR, storeroom, purchasing, shipping/receiving, and paper mill management

Outside of the Company:

Maintains contact and communication with various engineering firms, process consultants, vendors, suppliers, and other consultants as appropriate, for the purposes of receiving technical and training information for Team development.



Education and experience:

? High School diploma required.

? Ten or more years? experience of paper machine operations experience preferably with supervisory experience.

? Ten or more years of paper machine operations related experience desired with a demonstrated leadership skills.

? Will consider candidates with leadership experience in other manufacturing industries or military.
