Payroll Tax Accountant 2
Work in a shared services payroll organization with approximately 63k employees nationwide using PeopleSoft Payroll, MasterTax reporting/payment system and SAP financial software. Assist with the analysis, compilation and completion of local, state and federal payroll tax payments for 19 federal tax entities covering all 50 states and territories using MasterTax software. This individual is responsible for the timely and accurate remittance of $2.9 Billion in payroll taxes.
Prepares requests for tax refunds and abatements, maintains excellent tax records, prepares routine and special tax reports, and advises management regarding business, internal systems, and activities as they relate to tax matters. This candidate must have the proven ability to research, reconcile and resolve complex payroll tax issues, including historical payroll tax issues by working directly with local and state tax agencies to resolve tax discrepancies. Participate in payroll tax related projects, as needed. Supports quarter and year-end tax filing process and payments using MasterTax Software.
Critical success factors for candidates will include a highly collaborative work style, the ability to anticipate problems, proactively deal with difficult and complex situations and communicate appropriately with all levels of stakeholders. Must have strong organizational, problem-solving and closure skills; strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated interpersonal skills with different stakeholders and levels of professionals and management. Ideal candidate must have multi-state payroll tax and FEIN experience.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or equivalent and 3 years of directly-related payroll tax experience in a multi-tax entity and multi-state organization. Consideration will be made for candidates with 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of degree. PeopleSoft Payroll experience required. Ideal candidate must be highly analytical, a team player, a quick learner and a dependable worker with focus on ensuring the team meets its goals and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: MasterTax and SAP Financials a plus but not required
