Technician will support pilot line by performing defined machining, testing and inspecting processes. Position requires strong attention to details and ability to follow standard operating procedures. Position reports to the Pilot line supervisor.
Duties Include: ? Adherence to all Saint - Gobain health and safety requirements. ? Maintain and clean and orderly work area. ? Perform machining, cleaning and inspection processes on sapphire wafers in a pilot line environment. ? Operate sophisticated machine tools to achieve desired product characteristics. ? Acquire basic understanding of all fabrication steps. ? Work with team to optimize processes in terms of yield, productivity, consumable expense reduction, etc. ? Must be willing and able to follow standard operating procedures or other specific instructions. ? Will conduct experiments as assigned and provide feedback on results. ? Must be comfortable multi-tasking across an array of equipment in a dynamic environment. ? Provide verbal and/or written updates to supervisor and engineers, as requested. ? Must be flexible in terms of working long days, staggered shifts or weekends to meet the business objectives. ? Perform data entry into excel spread sheets. ? Must be familiar with units of measure, use of calipers and basic math skills. ? Must be willing and able to train others as necessary

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Knowledge of machine tool technology and 3+ years experience operating machine tools. Previous experience with lapping, polishing and grinding of sapphire or similar materials is desired. The successful candidate will have a history of machine tool operation and a demonstrated willingness to learn new equipment / processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Capability to use personal computer and applications, such as Excel, Outlook and Word, is a must. Previous experience in the semi-conductor wafer industry is highly desirable. Technician will be part of a team responsible to aid with scale up to high volume manufacturing.
