W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. is looking for an individual to provide plant leadership for a Phoenix plant.
This position will closely interact with the plant leadership team.
Responsibilities include:
Work with the business and operation leadership in starting up a manufacturing facility currently under construction. This includes process and product transition and facility support planning.
Assure product is shipped appropriately into and out of the facility.
Assure safety of the working conditions of the facility, maintain the building to a high standard of quality and cleanliness, hire associates in a non-prejudicial way, practice fairness with regards to compensation and job opportunities, develop a strong plant leadership team in partnership with the plant technical leader, quality assurance, manufacturing, and human resource associates.
Assure protection of intellectual property and participate in the establishment of engineering priorities.
Practice fairness with regard to compensation and job opportunities.
Maximize manufacturing efficiency and capacity while working with resources in a changing environment to effectively meet business objectives.
Ensure that associates are adequately trained to perform their functions and support and lead productivity and product quality improvements.
Assure that all quality requirements specific to the product and quality systems are met at all times.
Handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously and efficiently communicate project status through direct dialog, written documentation, business presentations, etc.
Actively promote the company culture.
Demonstrate a work style of hands-on involvement.
Support the implementation of new products and processes to reduce costs where appropriate, and meet delivery schedules.
In addition, the plant leader must be able to clearly articulate how the facility contributes to the overall success of the organization, identify need for change where appropriate and bring change about in a constructive manner, influence associates through authentic relationships, work with financial analysts and responsible associates for business planning cycles and work with manufacturing to understand capacity issues and respond accordingly, justify capital expenditures within the facility, work to ensure appropriate staffing levels and support various facility teams in achieving the overall business objectives.
Qualifications
Leadership experience in a large team is required. A bachelor's degree with technical or business emphasis, or equivalent work experience, is required. Five years or more experience in manufacturing or operations leadership role in a medical device environment is required - or an equivalent experience in a regulated environment.
Other qualifications include:
Experience in a regulated environment with proven understanding of Quality Assurance systems.
Demonstrated organizational and project management skills.
Proven ability to successfully manage multiple and often conflicting priorities.
Able to complete projects in expected time frames.
Ability to identify critical issues and develop/implement effective strategies to address these issues.
History of practicing cost discipline with knowledge of business planning, including tracking of budgeted information.
