NIGHT SHIFT PLASTICS PROCESSING TECHNICIAN

An opportunity is available immediately in the Injection Molding Department on the night shift.

Our operations run 24/7. The night shift runs from 7 pm to 7 am and offers a rotating schedule working 3-days on with 4-days off; then 4-days on with 3-days off every other week. Every other weekend you have Friday-Saturday-Sunday off.

The Plastics Process Technician is responsible for
Start up and shut down of machinery including all plant systems..chiller, tower, compressors, loading system and power supplies. Purge area of previous production material. Set-up and pull injection molds and auxiliary equipment. Set safety settings on injection press and mold. Program hot runner controllers. Load correct process settings. Hook up water lines and temperature controller. Install proper robot positioning and programming. Make all necessary electric connections. Able to program and setup color feeders. Start-up and inspect first piece samples.
Answer machine/mold alarms in a timely and effective way. Maintain logbooks and update set up sheets as required. Provide minor mold and machine maintenance. Perform insert changes. Identify and communicate mold problems with knowledge of mold construction techniques and systems. Keep work areas clean and assist in plant housekeeping.
Make process adjustments using effective root cause/analytical problem solving techniques in order to maintain quality and efficiency standards. Provide proper documentation and general communications as warranted by Currier Plastics procedures.
Proactively contribute, evaluate and document ideas for continuous improvement. These areas can include, but are not limited to: process adjustments for improved quality and/or faster cycle times, capital equipment upgrades, mold repair or redesign suggestions, labor reduction/automation improvements, etc




Requirements:

High School degree, GED, or 2 year degree
Good math skills, especially percentages, strong writing skills & reading comprehension
Training or experience in basic injection molding procedures
Must be available to work 12 hour night shifts (7 pm 7 am) on a rotating schedule
Must be mechanically inclined
Basic understanding of blue prints & schematics
