Location:Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, United States Type: Exempt Grade:E4-E5(depending upon experience) Job Summary Performs a wide variety of procurement engineering assignments at an intermediate to high degree of complexity with little direction from peers and supervisors. Considerable latitude for independent action and decision. Responsible for successful development start up and on-going quality at the supplier level. Primary Responsibilities Responsible for the mechanical/electromechanical design of products including the following: * Assists in performing costing activities as required through Sales. * Works with limited guidance on complex engineering activities including mechanical/electromechanical design studies, electrical interfaces, cost analysis and project coordination. * Assists in the development and maintenance of design standards. * Responsible for cost reduction recommendations. * Responsible for coordinating sourcing risk assessments and establishing mitigation plans. * Responsible for coordinating supply chain development/improvements. * Support specification of components and materials. * Collaborate with development teams, manufacturing, customers and suppliers to ensure highly manufacturable designs are released to suppliers. * Provide expedient technical support to all areas of the company where required. * Create and maintain good internal and external relationships. * Drive quality improvements and manage assigned Corrective Action Requests. Qualifications * Ability to establish sourcing and tooling strategies, and execute to that strategy. * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written, with customers, vendors, and factory personnel. * Ability to manage multiple projects. * Willingness, ability and desire to travel. * Experience with analyzing multi-part mechanisms and mechanical/electromechanical assemblies. * Ability to conduct root cause analysis and report on findings. * Good problem solving skills with solution orientated results. * Set-up and conduct process capability analysis including statistical analysis and DOE. * Set-up and conduct measurement system analysis. * Ability to communicate quality requirements and inspection findings effectively with suppliers. * Understanding of LEAN initiatives. * Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision. * Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan, execute and achieve goals. * Identifies, evaluates, selects and manages the technical development for assigned commodities. * Establishes a team approach to supplier, commodity, cost management and problem resolution. * Ability to fully interpret and evaluate fabricated parts drawings. * Past experience in plastics, metal fabrication and rubber molding. * Experience with CAD Date exchange programming. * Significant breadth with material sciences. * Basic understanding of cost accounting. * Familiarity with ISO 9000 practices. * Familiarity with Reliability Engineering methodologies including worst case, stress, durability analysis and HALT. * Past experience working with suppliers in Asia. * Ability to speak Chinese (Mandarin).
